Dixie Bell Chalk Paint- 1st Impressions
So now that I’ve dove right into painting furniture full throttle. I’ve decided to try out some new paint brands. So this week I tried out Dixie Belle Paint Company Chalk Paint. I use to think “Buying chalk paint online was expensive”, but I was pleasantly surprised. After looking at how much paint I would use on my previous projects using the discount store or craft store paints and how often I was having to buy more paint, they really weren’t that inexpensive. I only used 2 coats of the Dixie Belle Chalk Paint in the color Collard Greens on this piece (1 thin crumb coat and 1 final coat and I hardly used any paint from the container. And this color….so earthly and rich…my new FAVORITE color.
Here is a video I did showing how the paint went on and the coverage

This table took a lot of repair work. The table top was chewed up in several areas, the drawer was broken, and the drawer rails were “aggressively removed” prior to me buying this piece. I filled in all the areas with DAP putty (which I just found out that Dixie Belle has a product called Dixie Mud that I could have used…maybe trying that out next). I let the putty sit for 24 hours and then sanded it back to a smooth surface.
I added a little dry brushing of Dixie Belle chalk paint in the color “Sandbar” to add a little bit of highlight to the top for a little texture anf then I coat of polyacrylic and 2 coats of clear wax…then buffed to a satin sheen. I purchased the basket (to replace the broken drawer) from Michael’s Craft Store and it really adds some charm to this piece). The Cotton Boutiques on top were purchased from Kirkland Home Décor.
Thanks for taking the time to rad my blog and I hope you are having a FABULOUS day!!! Big HUGS
