Want to update the decor of your home? Want to have a trendy look without breaking the bank ?   I’ll show you a few projects that I’ve done simply by using a little bit of chalk mineral paint.  I used Dixie Belle Paints on all my projects.   These projects take very little paint and basic painting techniques are used….. so they are easy peasy !!

First of all, find your local garage sales, thrift stores, charity shops or estate sales in your area.   Look for pieces that are priced right and have details to them that you like even if they are not the color or style you would normally buy.   Believe me, a little bit of paint can does wonders when it comes to home decor items.

Here are a few examples of my Trash to Treasure Home Decor Make-Overs:

1..   Updated lamp:   I used some paint (I used Dixie Belle in the color Mint Julep on the lamp and stencil of the shade and I used Dixie Belle’s white paint called Fluff to clean up the look of the shade).

2.  Updated ceramic bust: I used Dixie Belle’s Flea Market Decor paint in the color Aged Ivory.

3.  I used Dixie Belle’s Flea Market Decor Paints in the color Market Greens with a wash (50% water / 50% paint) of Aged Ivory.   I then reupholstered the top with fabric I got at an estate sale.

4.  I painted this thrifted clock using Dixie Belle’s Fluff (white) and then added some scraps of my Prima Redesign transfer called “French Ceramics” to give it some added fun and detail.

5.  I painted this plastic broken children’s vanity mirror by painting it with Dixie Belle’s Fluff (my go-to color when doing make overs if you haven’t noticed…LOL) .  I also painted the center (where the mirror use to be) with Dixie Belle’s Caviar (black) to make it into a chalk board.

6.  These 3 outdated plastic beauties each got a different make-over.  One was done with Dixie Belle’s Flea Market Decor Aged Ivory, then it was sanded back to look more rustic then added Prima Decor was in the color Shiny Star to give a little hint of silver.   The next one got a full coat of Dixie Belle’s Flea Market Decor Market Greens and a wash of Aged Ivory over it to reveal the details, and the last one got a coat of Dixie Belle’s Flea Market Decor Birchwood then thinly stippled Black, Brown and White Wax to give it a stone look.
